Percodan Side Effects, Overuse

  • Dark urine*
  • Fainting
  • Feeling light-headed
  • Loss of appetite
  • Nausea
  • Seizure, convulsions
  • Shallow breathing
  • Slow heartbeat
  • Stomach pain
  • Unusual thoughts or behavior
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes

*If you have any symptoms of bleeding in the intestines or stomach, stop Percodan use and call your doctor immediately.

Seek help immediately for side effects of opiate overuse:

  • Chest pain
  • Coma, unconsciousness
  • Fever
  • Irregular, slow heartbeat
  • Lack of responsiveness
  • Muscle stiffness or tremor
  • Pinpointed pupils
  • Seizures
  • Severe exhaustion
  • Tightness in chest
  • Vomiting

Percodan ® is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to aspirin or Oxycodone, or to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID), such as:

  • Advil
  • Aleve
  • Feldene
  • Indocin
  • Lodine
  • Mobic
  • Motrin
  • Orudis
  • Relafen
  • Toradol
  • Voltaren
  • and others.

Percodan ® can cause constipation, provoke dizziness, and impair judgment. It also causes drowsiness, seizures, and slow heart rate when taken with other drugs:

  • Antidepressants
  • Alcohol
  • Cold or allergy medicine
  • Sedatives (for insomnia)
  • Other pain relievers
  • Anxiety medicines
  • Muscle relaxants
  • Seizure medication.
You may experience adverse Percodan side effects, be prohibited from using or require special doses or testing, and need doctor’s advice if you have a history of:
  • Alcohol withdrawal
  • Asthma
  • Brain tumor
  • Constricted airways
  • Curved spine
  • Drug withdrawal
  • Enlarged prostate
  • Epilepsy
  • Head injury
  • Breathing disorders
  • Liver or kidney disease
  • Low blood pressure
  • Mental illness
  • Pancreas disorder
  • Seizures
  • Stomach, intestinal disorders
  • Stomach ulcer or bleeding
  • Under-active thyroid
  • Urination problems

Percodan ® may impair judgment or reactions. Doctors advise not to operate hazardous machinery or motor vehicles.

Percodan ® can also be transmitted through mother’s milk during nursing.

Inform your physician about all other medications, since combined interaction exacerbate Percodan side effects (incomplete list):

Insulin or diabetes medications that you take orally.

Acetazolamide (Diamox)
Diuretics (water pills)
Steroids, and
Blood thinners.

NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as:

  • diclofenac (Voltaren)
  • etodolac (Lodine)
  • indomethacin (Indocin)
  • naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn)
  • and others.

ACE inhibitors such as:

  • benazepril (Lotensin)
  • captopril (Capoten)
  • fosinopril (Monopril)
  • enalapril (Vasotec)
  • lisinopril (Prinivil, Zestril)
  • quinapril (Accupril)
  • and others.

Beta-blocker such as:

  • atenolol (Tenormin)
  • labetalol (Normodyne, Trandate)
  • metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol)
  • nadolol (Corgard)
  • propranolol (Inderal, InnoPran)
  • sotalol (Betapace)
  • timolol (Blocadren)
  • and others.

Bronchodilators such as:

  • Atrovent, Spiriva.

Methotrexate (Rheumatrex, Trexall).

Atropine (Donnatal), dimenhydrinate (Dramamine), or scopolamine (Transderm-Scop).

Bowel or bladder medications such as

  • dicyclomine (Bentyl)
  • hyoscyamine (Anaspaz, Cystospaz, Levsin)
  • tolterodine (Detrol)
  • and others.
